Opposition Congress on Friday demanded resignation of the Home Minister of the state for alleged break down in law and order situation. In Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb holds the portfolio of the Home Minister.
In a press conference Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman accused the BJP of resorting to violence and attacks on the opposition leaders and workers as, the ruling party, he alleged, lost the trust of the people of the state.
“Democracy in the state is at stake. The Home Minister is not in a position to handle the fast deteriorating law and order situation. It is high time that he should quit” , claimed Roy Barman. He was flanked by PCC president Birajit Sinha and his close confidante Asish Saha.
Roy Barman said, “On behalf of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, I am demanding the resignation of the Home Minister of Tripura. He has crushed the democracy and established a one-man ruling in the State”.
Referring to the recent attack on his PSO and driver Roy Barman maintained the even after such an incident no senior police officer was seen to visit the spot or talk to him.
None of the DGP and IGP (Law and order) could be seen – even the SP also did not visit the crime spot.
“ It looks like we (Congress) would have to serve a lookout notice for them. They appears they have gone missing”.=, Roy Barman said.
It may be mentioned here that soon after the incident Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb did speak to DGP V S Yadav and asked him to nab the culprits immediately. Accordingly within 24 hours three of the assailants who attacked Roy Barman’s PSO and driver were arrested and produced before the court.
