On the last day of the year several senior IPS officers were awarded with higher ranks in the Tripura Police.

While Puneet Rastogi- a 1995 batch IPS has got DGP scale after completion of 30 years of service as DIG A Ramesh Reddy -a 2007 batch IPS was promoted of the rank of IGP.

Three IPS officers of 2011 -Prabir Majumdar, Ratiranjan Debnath and Sanjay Roy have been promoted to the rank of DIG while Subrata Chakrabarty and Dilip Roy got the rank of senior SP.

One more 2011 batch IPS Sankar Debnath was also in the list of promotion to the rank o DIG but for some pending enquiry the promotion was withheld.

Sankar Debnath, Prabir Majumdar, Ratiranjan Debnath, Sanjay Roy, Subrata Chakrabarty and Dilip Roy – they are all 1998 batch TPS officers. One among them Krishnendu Chakravertty had earlier become DIG  and been holding several charges including that of Special Branch.

Tripura Police had been facing severe shortages of officers at the higher ranks for the last few years forcing one officer to look after several wings. Now with the much awaited promotions coming into force the overload on the top was expected to be reduced.
