Tripura Police finds increasing trend of cybercrime has emerged as a new and challenging task. As the Tripura Police celebrates Police Week 2022 from tomorrow till 16 next the department highlighted their achievements in an official press release.
According to the release to control road traffic accidents, several effective steps have been taken which included introduction of “e-challan system. After introduction of “e-challan system” total Rs. 2,14,67,750 has been collected as fine money from the traffic rules violators during the year.
For providing prompt response to emergency situations the state government has introduced ERSS (Emergency Response Support System) in 2019. During the year 2021, this service has been made more effective. Under this system total 12 ERSS vehicles have been deployed in strategic locations under AMC area and 73 ERSS vehicles in non-AMC area to attend the emergency calls from the people round the clock.
The ERSS service has been further extended by integrating CM Helpline (1905), Women in distress (1091), Women Helpline (Domestic Violence) 181 and Cyber Financial fraud (155260) numbers with 112.
To improve crime record maintenance, CCTNS network has been improved considerably by extending stable connectivity to hard and technically non-feasible locations throughout the state.
As a part of “Nesha Mukti Abhiyan”, some important steps have been taken during the year following which 37,313 Kg dry ganja, 1,73,289 bottles of Cough syrup, 13,02,259 contraband tablets and 3.475 kg heroin have been seized.
In connection with this, total 326 cases have been registered under NDPS Act in which 465 accused persons have been detained. Total 10 drug traffickers have also been detained under PITNDPS Act-1988 during the year 2021.
Tripura Police has continued its operations against the extremist activities in the state during the year 2021– one extremist has been killed in an encounter under Manikpur PS in Dhalai District. In this year, 9 NLFT(PD), 17 NLFT(BM) and 01 KYKL extremist have surrendered and deposited four pistols, one .22 pistol, one revolver, one grenade and some live rounds including Rs. 15,14,900 and Bangladeshi Taka 20,000.
As part of its social responsibility, Tripura Police has organised total 25 voluntary Blood Donation Camps where good number of officers and men of Police and TSR have donated blood to save the lives of the people.
During the year 2021, promotion has been given in various ranks of Tripura Police to boost up the morale and fill up the vacancies of supervisory level officers which was pending for the last 7/8 years. During this period, total 173 Sub-Inspectors have been promoted as In-charge Inspector on ad-hoc basis. Besides this, as per new promotion policy of the government, 39 TPS Gr-II officers have been promoted to TPS Gr-I and 78 Inspectors/Subedars have also been promoted to TPS Gr-II.
Besides, promotion has also been given in the post of two Account officers and 21 Office Superintendents amongst the Ministerial staff on ad-hoc basis.
The promotion in other ranks of Police and TSR is also under process. During the year 2021 the recruitment process for TSR personnel in two IR Battalions has been completed in which 1443 candidates have been selected on the basis of merit.
For the first time, 138 Women TSR personnel are also being appointed in TSR Battalions and the whole recruitment process has been done through independent agencies and CBSE.Total 1286 SPOs have been appointed at the end of the year 2021 who in will turn strengthen the position of Tripura Police on the ground. The DGP and all rank and file of Tripura Police are thankful to the people of the state for their cooperation during the year 2021.
