The Tripura Government, under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s direction, has facilitated urgent treatment for 22-month-old Manashree Choudhury suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type-1 at AIIMS New Delhi, ensuring comprehensive medical, logistical and administrative support for the child’s family.

The Tripura Government has extended urgent assistance to a 22-month-old child diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening genetic disorder by facilitating her advanced medical treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The intervention came following the direct instructions of Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, reflecting the state government’s commitment to ensuring timely healthcare support for citizens facing critical medical emergencies.

The child, Manashree Choudhury, daughter of Dhruba Choudhury, has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type-1, a severe neuromuscular disorder that affects muscle strength and movement. The condition is considered one of the most serious forms of SMA and requires immediate access to highly specialized medical care, expert evaluation, and continuous monitoring.

Soon after receiving directions from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, officials of Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi acted promptly to extend every possible assistance to the family. The Resident Commissioner and officials coordinated with AIIMS, New Delhi, to facilitate the child’s admission, medical evaluation, and treatment process without unnecessary delays.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the state government remains committed to ensuring that every citizen receives necessary support during critical health emergencies, irrespective of the complexity of the medical condition. The government has assured the family of comprehensive logistical and administrative assistance throughout the treatment period in the national capital.

Officials at Tripura Bhawan have been entrusted with overseeing all coordination related to the child’s treatment. They are maintaining constant communication with the medical authorities at AIIMS as well as the family members to ensure that every required arrangement is made smoothly. The coordinated effort is aimed at minimizing the family’s difficulties while allowing doctors to focus on providing the best possible medical care for the young patient.

In an official statement, the Chief Minister’s Office emphasized that the welfare of citizens remains a top priority for the state government. It stated that no resident of Tripura should feel unsupported during severe health crises and that the administration would continue to provide every possible institutional assistance whenever required.

The swift intervention has highlighted the role of Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi as a crucial support system for residents of the state seeking specialized treatment at premier healthcare institutions in the national capital. Besides facilitating medical appointments and administrative formalities, officials are also helping the family navigate the treatment process efficiently.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type-1 is a rare genetic disease that primarily affects infants and requires specialized multidisciplinary care. Early diagnosis and timely treatment significantly improve the chances of better clinical outcomes, making prompt intervention particularly important in such cases.

The government’s rapid response has been welcomed as an example of compassionate governance and coordinated administrative action. By ensuring immediate access to AIIMS and extending continuous logistical support, the Tripura Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality healthcare assistance to patients requiring advanced medical treatment outside the state.
