Tripura government appoints retired IAS officer Dilip Kumar Chakma as new TPSC Chairman. The decision follows the resignation of Colonel Kush Kumar Sharma after a controversy, ensuring administrative stability and continuity in state recruitment processes.

The Government of Tripura has appointed Dilip Kumar Chakma, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as the new Chairman of the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), marking an important administrative change in the state’s constitutional body.

According to an official notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the appointment has been made in accordance with Article 316 of the Constitution of India. The notification stated that the Governor of Tripura has approved Chakma’s appointment with effect from the date he assumes charge.

Dilip Kumar Chakma is a seasoned bureaucrat with decades of administrative experience across multiple departments of the Tripura government. At present, he is holding the additional responsibility of Commissioner of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, a key urban governance position. His appointment is expected to bring stability and credibility to the Tripura Public Service Commission, which plays a crucial role in recruiting candidates for state government services.

Chakma will succeed Colonel Kush Kumar Sharma, who resigned from the post following a serious controversy. Colonel Sharma was accused of misbehaving with a state minister and security personnel while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The incident led to his arrest along with his son, and a formal case was registered against them by the authorities.

With Dilip Kumar Chakma at the helm, expectations are high for transparent, efficient, and merit-based recruitment processes in the state.
