The state government is making all-out efforts with responsibility to fulfill the aspirations of the people. In the last 5 years, the state has made unprecedented progress. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas mantra, the state government has continued its multifaceted works for the overall development of the people of all sections, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said while hoisting the national flag at the main programme organized on the occasion of 77th Independence Day at Assam Rifles Ground.

In his address the Chief Minister highlighted various programmes undertaken by the state government for public welfare and said that 13 new schemes have already been announced in the welfare-centric budget for the fiscal year 2023-24. This budget contains a proper roadmap for development of the people of all sections including Tribals, Minorities and Scheduled castes.

Hoisting the national flag, the Chief Minister inspected the parade. 16 platoons of security and non-security participated in the parade. On the occasion, the Chief Minister presented medals to all the officers and personnel of the State Police Force who have received medals for their special contribution at workplace at various times. At the end of the programme, a wonderful cultural programme was organized by the Department of School Education, Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council and Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. Students from different schools participated in it. Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and officials of State Administration and Police Administration were present on the occasion.

In the main programme of the Independence Day celebration, the Chief Minister also said that about 25 percent of the budget presented by the state government in the budget session of the Legislative Assembly has been earmarked for health and education. Compared to 2022-23 , the urban development budget has increased by about 70 percent, tribal welfare budget by about 43 percent, power services by about 28 percent, industries by about 54 percent and agriculture by about 25 percent.

The Chief Minister said that the positive efforts of the state government towards the development of tribal culture and tradition along with the economic development have been reflected in the last 5 years. Three new hostels have been constructed for tribal students which are in Agartala Women’s College, Ambedkar College at Fatikroy and Gandatwis a Degree College and Kumari Madhuti Rup ashree Rest House at Agartala and Tribal Rest House at Kalacherra in Sabroom. The Central Government has sanctioned 17 Eklavya Model Residential Schools. Construction of new Eklavya Model Residential School at Nalicherra in Amassa has been completed and commissioned.

Construction of 1 2 new Eklavya model residential schools is under progress. The Chief Minister said that the development of agriculture is one of the priority areas of the state government. The state government plans to set up 1 ‘Krishak B andhu Kendra’ in each agricultural sub-division of the state from 20 1 8 . Till now 3 2 Krishak B andhu Kendras have been launched. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha hi ghlighted the development of education department and said that in this ye ar’ s budg et, with the aim of developing education infrastructure, the state government has invested 2 thousand crore rupees for the next 5 years to modernize 400 government schools under PM-SHRI and Vidyaj yoti scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has continued its continuous efforts to strengthen the health infrastructure of the State. To provide health services in remote areas, Karb ook, Kumarghat and Panisagar Community Health Centres have been upgraded to Sub-Divisional Hospitals. Also, last year, three level-3 Trauma Care Centre in South District, Gomati and Dhalai Districts and new building of Sub-Divisional Hospital of Longtharai valley with 20 bedded were inaugurated. 6 Primary Health Centres were inaugurated at B oxanagar, Kanchanmala, Mohanpur, Kalyanpur, Notun bazar and Ompi . The Chief Minister also said that in the 202 3 -24 budget, 3 0 crore rupees and 55 crore rupees have been allocated to construct 1 00 health sub-centre buildings and set up a separate centre for the treatment of infectious diseases respectively to strengthen the infrastructure of health services.

The Chief Minister said that 4 lakh 1 3 thousand 45 6 women from poor families in rural areas have been linked to 46 thousand 1 79 self-help groups in Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yoj ana under the National Rural Livelihood Mission. These self-help groups have received a revolving fund of 424 crore rupees and community investment fund. Around 2 0 per cent of self-help groups have been identified as women Lakhpati Didis.

Chief Minister said that efforts are on to increase fish production. Fish fingerlings have been distributed among 62,000 fish farmers under Mukhyamantri Swanirbhar Yojana . A total of 59,810 fish farmers have been provided necessary assistance to encourage scientific fish farming through ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yoj ana’. The Chief Minister also said that by recent ly inaugurating two women’ s p olice stations, at least one women’ s police station has been established in each district of the state.
