Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu visits the 20th Regional Saras Mela in Agartala, promotes rural entrepreneurship, organic products, and self-help group enterprises while launching new SHG brands under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission.

Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Wednesday evening visited the 20th Regional Saras Mela at the International Fair Ground in Agartala, highlighting the vital role of rural entrepreneurship in strengthening the state’s economy. During his visit, the Governor interacted with members of various self-help groups (SHGs), artisans, and visitors participating in the large-scale rural livelihood exhibition.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu emphasized that rural self-entrepreneurs have immense potential to transform local economies if they receive adequate institutional support, skill development, and marketing opportunities. He stated that products created by rural communities reflect not only traditional craftsmanship but also sustainable economic growth when promoted effectively.

“The products made by rural self-entrepreneurs can significantly strengthen the rural economy with proper guidance, support, and market access,” the Governor said, urging stakeholders to focus on innovation while preserving traditional skills.

The Governor also drew attention to the rapidly growing demand for organic and eco-friendly products across the country. He encouraged SHG members to prioritize organic production methods, stating that such initiatives can help rural producers tap into national and international markets. He further appealed to visitors attending the Saras Mela to purchase products directly from local artisans and SHGs, ensuring fair returns to producers and reducing dependency on middlemen.

During the event, Governor Nallu unveiled the official newsletter Stuti of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), showcasing success stories and achievements of SHGs across the state. He also launched several SHG brands, including Khowai Creation, Gomati Blue Tea, Tripureswari Agarbatti, and Khachuk from North Tripura, marking a significant step toward brand recognition for rural enterprises.

In addition, the Governor presented awards to outstanding SHGs in various categories, acknowledging their contribution to women empowerment, rural employment generation, and sustainable livelihoods.

The Saras Mela serves as a major platform for promoting rural products, encouraging entrepreneurship, and connecting producers directly with consumers. The event reflects Tripura’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots economic development through self-reliance and community participation.
