On Wednesday, Minister for Information and Technology Pranajit Singha Roy announced the forthcoming launch of the ‘Tripura Start-up Policy 2024,’ scheduled for January 24. This significant policy will be unveiled by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha during an official program at Prajna Bhavan in Agartala, with the presence of various esteemed dignitaries.

The ‘Tripura Start-up Policy 2024’ has been developed with the vision of fostering a robust start-up ecosystem within the state. The policy encompasses a comprehensive support system designed to assist start-ups in overcoming various challenges. This includes financial support for purchasing raw materials and equipment, marketing assistance to help promote their products and services, and overall infrastructural support to facilitate smooth operations. A substantial amount of Rs. 50 crore has been earmarked for this initiative, underscoring the government’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial spirit.

Minister Pranajit Singha Roy emphasized that the government has set an ambitious target to build approximately 200 start-ups annually. This policy is not only a stepping stone towards economic development but also aims at tapping into the innovative potential of the youth, encouraging them to contribute fresh and creative solutions to existing problems. By doing so, it seeks to generate significant employment opportunities, thereby addressing the issue of unemployment in the state.

Furthermore, the policy includes various incentives to motivate and support all start-ups, with additional benefits specifically tailored for start-ups led by women and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). This inclusive approach ensures that the benefits of the policy reach a broader spectrum of society, promoting diversity and equal opportunities within the entrepreneurial landscape.

During the press conference held at the Secretariat, Minister Pranajit Singha Roy was accompanied by Secretary Kiran Gitte and Director Jeya Ragul Geshan B., who reiterated the government’s dedication to making Tripura a thriving hub for start-ups. They highlighted the collaborative efforts and strategic plans in place to ensure the successful implementation of this policy, ultimately aiming to position Tripura as a model state for start-up growth and innovation.
