In a statement shared on social media, Dr. Saha emphasized that India’s defense capabilities have significantly advanced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He credited the Prime Minister’s continuous efforts in strengthening the armed forces through indigenous innovation and the incorporation of state-of-the-art warfare systems.

“Under the continuous efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the defense sector of our country has become self-reliant and enriched with modern warfare technologies. In particular, the use of modern drone technology has seen rapid expansion in combating terrorism and handling conflict situations. Today, at the Assam Rifles ground, I had the privilege of witnessing the joint drone exercise conducted by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles. I encouraged our soldiers and witnessed their exceptional display of combat strategies,” the Chief Minister wrote.

The joint drone exercise served as a demonstration of how drones are revolutionizing modern-day combat. Once considered futuristic, drone-based warfare is now a practical and effective part of India’s defense strategy. Drones are increasingly being used in reconnaissance, surveillance, and counter-terrorism operations, reducing human risk while enhancing operational efficiency.

Officials from the state’s top administration also joined the Chief Minister at the event. Director General of Police Anurag, Home Secretary Abhishek Singh, and several senior officials attended the exercise, underscoring the importance of close coordination between state administration and national defense forces in matters of security.

The exercise also demonstrated India’s broader shift toward indigenous defense technologies, aligned with the national vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India). Over the past decade, the country has placed significant focus on developing advanced weapon systems, including drones, with contributions from both government-led defense establishments and private sector innovators.
