Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurates Techno India University Tripura’s new infrastructure, lays multiple foundation stones, and highlights the state’s rising higher education demand. TIUT expands academic, residential and research facilities while private universities continue emerging across Tripura.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated the newly developed infrastructure of Techno India University, Tripura (TIUT), marking a major milestone in the state’s rapidly expanding higher education landscape. The inauguration ceremony, held at the Techno India Knowledge Campus in Agartala, was attended by top dignitaries, university officials, faculty members, and students.
The occasion also included the foundation stone laying for several upcoming infrastructural facilities, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to transforming Tripura into a major educational hub in the Northeast. TIUT was established under Tripura Act No. 4 of 2023 and has since emerged as one of the state’s most promising new universities.

The programme began at 11:30 am with a ceremonial reception of dignitaries. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended as the Chief Guest, while Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman graced the event as Guest of Honour. The ceremony showcased the university’s vision for academic growth, student welfare, and a modern learning ecosystem.
Key facilities inaugurated included the TIUT Academic Block–D, the Tagore Lounge, and several student-centric amenities. A blood donation camp and campus greening initiative were also launched, reflecting the university’s emphasis on social and environmental responsibility. Students presented innovative project exhibits and set up traditional food stalls. Several publications, including Mandala, TIUT Times, and OBE & Skill Sets: Theory to Practice, were released on the occasion.
Foundation stones were laid for the Girls’ Hostel, Boys’ Hostel, Auditorium, the Vice-Chancellor’s Bungalow, and the Staff Residential Block. The Open Gym and Open Theatre were launched online, followed by the signing of MoUs with partnering institutions to enhance academic collaboration.
CM Saha: “This is a major step forward for Tripura’s education sector”
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the inauguration of the Techno India Knowledge Campus was much more than an infrastructural achievement — it symbolised a meaningful shift in Tripura’s higher education progress.
CM Saha’s “This is not just another institutional milestone. It is a momentous step forward for the education landscape of Tripura. It reflects the rising demand and growing importance of higher education in our state,” he said.
Dr. Saha stated that the campus currently houses nearly 2,800 students from Tripura and various states like Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and West Bengal. Students from Bangladesh are also enrolled, highlighting the university’s increasing regional footprint.
He lauded the institution’s alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, saying:

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to making Tripura a leading educational hub in the Northeast.

Our vision is to create robust infrastructure, improve faculty quality, and ensure wide access to learning resources. We want an environment where students can learn, grow, and contribute to the development of both the state and the nation.”
Speaking about the need for modern education to remain connected with industry and research, he added:

He urged students to make full use of emerging opportunities in a tech-driven, globally connected world.
Chancellor Prof. Satyam Roychowdhury: “Tripura has always been special for us”
In his welcome address, Prof. Roychowdhury, Chancellor and Founder–Managing Director of Techno India Group, recalled that the institution’s journey in Tripura began in 1988 with the state’s first computer training centre. He thanked the Government of Tripura, institutional partners, and the people for their support in the university’s growth.
Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, highlighted the need for education that integrates artificial intelligence, sustainability, modern technology, and environmental awareness. She emphasised that meaningful research, strong academic standards, and efficient administration are essential for a university’s development.
Cultural programme and major power infrastructure boost
The cultural session commenced at 3 pm, featuring music, dance, and student performances. Power, Agriculture, and Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath attended as Chief Guest for the evening session. Former Tripura University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Arunoday Saha and Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar were present as special guests.
One of the major highlights was the inauguration of a 33 kV dual-feeding indoor substation. This new power infrastructure is expected to significantly strengthen the campus’s energy stability and support future expansion.

The day ended with a campus-wide illumination ceremony, symbolising TIUT’s commitment to innovation, inclusiveness, and holistic learning. As several other private universities prepare to establish campuses in Tripura, TIUT’s rapid development reflects a larger shift in the state’s educational aspirations.
