CPI(M) leader Jitendra Chaudhury condemns the alleged vandalism at the Jogendranagar party office in Agartala, warns those responsible will face consequences, and accuses BJP workers of political violence and intimidation in Tripura.
Opposition Leader and CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged vandalism of the party’s local committee office in Jogendranagar and warned that those responsible for attacks on opposition workers and offices would eventually be held accountable.
Chaudhury, who is also a politburo member of the CPI(M), visited the party office in the Jogendranagar area of Agartala and met local leaders, workers and supporters. The office was allegedly attacked and vandalised last Monday, with party members claiming that furniture, important papers and documents, and portraits of veteran party leaders were damaged.
During his visit, Chaudhury sought detailed information about the incident from local party leaders and workers. He was briefed about the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and the damage caused to the office.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Chaudhury launched a strong attack on the BJP government in Tripura and alleged that ruling party workers were using intimidation and violence to obstruct the political activities of the opposition.
“In the name of a movement, the unruly BJP workers launched an attack on the CPI(M) party office without any provocation and vandalized it completely,” Chaudhury said, alleging that such incidents reflected a deteriorating political environment in the state.
He further alleged that opposition programmes were being deliberately obstructed through violent means and questioned the ability of the government to control what he described as unruly supporters of the ruling party.
Chaudhury also issued a warning to those allegedly involved in attacks against CPI(M) offices and workers. He said that the party was identifying the people responsible for such incidents and asserted that those found guilty would have to face consequences.
“No one involved in these incidents will be spared. Every name is being identified, and those guilty will face the consequences,” he said.
The CPI(M) leader maintained that the BJP could not remain in power through threats, intimidation and violence. He claimed that public opinion was increasingly turning against the ruling party and asserted that the “countdown” for the BJP’s exit from power had already begun.
Chaudhury also accused the BJP of focusing on what he described as falsehood and corruption instead of addressing public concerns. He said the CPI(M) would continue to raise political and democratic protests against alleged attacks on its workers and organisational offices.
The Jogendranagar incident has added to the CPI(M)’s concerns over alleged political violence and attacks on opposition activities in Tripura. The party has indicated that it will continue documenting such incidents and mobilising its workers and supporters through democratic and political programmes.

The allegations made by Chaudhury and the CPI(M) come amid continued political rivalry between the ruling BJP and opposition parties in the state. The CPI(M) has maintained that attacks on political offices and workers undermine democratic practices, while the allegations remain subject to verification by the concerned authorities.
