Tripura CM Manik Saha accused CPI (M) of spreading negativity and misleading people with false propaganda. Highlighting major fund allocations for TTAADC and defending PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat, he condemned opposition remarks against Modi, stressed unity between tribals and non-tribals, and showcased the BJP government’s development and law-and-order achievements.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday launched a sharp attack against the opposition CPI (M), accusing the Left party of spreading negativity and misleading people with false propaganda against the ruling BJP government in the state.

Addressing a public gathering at East Takchaya in Asharambari, Khowai district, on the occasion of the 125th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Chief Minister said that the opposition has failed to acknowledge the significant development works carried out by the government, particularly for the Janajati (tribal) communities.

Funds Allocated for Tribal Development

Highlighting the government’s commitment to the welfare of the indigenous population, Saha informed that in the 2024-25 financial year, an additional ₹170 crore was allocated to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). For the 2025-26 financial year, the allocation was further increased to ₹860 crore, reflecting the administration’s priority for the socio-economic upliftment of the tribal regions.

Responding to the CPI-M’s criticism of a so-called fund crisis in the autonomous body, Saha asserted that the allegations were baseless. He reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has been working tirelessly for the welfare of the marginalized, ensuring that benefits reach the grassroots.

Defence of Mann Ki Baat

Saha also defended Prime Minister Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme, calling it a bridge between the leader and the people. He recalled former Chief Minister and Left leader Manik Sarkar’s comment that “nobody listens to Mann Ki Baat” and countered it by saying that people across India eagerly wait for the broadcast.

“I want to urge Manik Sarkar to come and listen to Mann Ki Baat. The CPI-M does not want to see development and instead confuses people with negativity. In the future, they will be found nowhere,” Saha remarked.

He emphasized that Mann Ki Baat is not a political event but a platform where the Prime Minister connects directly with the people, showcasing development, innovation, and national unity.

Criticism of Opposition Conduct

Turning his attention to the broader opposition, the Tripura CM condemned the recent remarks made by RJD and Congress leaders in Bihar, including Rahul Gandhi, against Prime Minister Modi and his late mother. He termed the comments “derogatory, abusive, and a direct attack on Indian culture.”

“A Chaiwala, a man from a poor family, rose to become the Prime Minister of India. This reality was never acceptable to Congress, RJD, and other opposition parties. Such disrespectful comments will not be tolerated by the people of Bihar or the country as a whole,” he said, drawing loud applause from the audience.

Promise of Peaceful Politics

Saha recalled the violent political culture that had existed in Tripura during the decades-long rule of the CPI-M and Congress, accusing them of fostering fear and division. In contrast, he stressed that the BJP government has established a new political environment based on peace and development.

“Jati and Janajati are brothers. There should be no division among us. We are working towards building Ek Tripura Shreshtha Tripura because without unity, development is not possible,” the Chief Minister noted.

Achievements Under BJP Rule

The Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, highlighted several achievements of the BJP government since coming to power in 2018. He claimed that law and order in the state has improved significantly, with police being given a free hand to maintain peace and security.

He further pointed out that the government has paid due respect to the legacy of the erstwhile royal family of Tripura. The Agartala airport was renamed after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, the last king of the state, as a mark of recognition for his contributions.

In addition, the BJP government has undertaken efforts to strengthen the education and health infrastructure in tribal areas. Saha assured that these initiatives are aimed at creating equal opportunities for all sections of society and bridging historical gaps.

Presence of Party Leaders

The event also witnessed the participation of several BJP leaders and dignitaries, including party General Secretary Bipin Debbarma and TTAADC member Bhumika Nanda Reang. The leaders reiterated their commitment to working for the welfare of both tribal and non-tribal communities while countering the “negative politics” of the opposition.
