Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan in New Delhi to discuss key development projects, connectivity upgrades, and digital infrastructure initiatives for the state’s growth.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss a wide range of development initiatives and ongoing projects aimed at accelerating the state’s growth trajectory, officials from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed.
According to the CMO, the meeting was marked by detailed discussions on the state’s developmental priorities, infrastructure expansion, and welfare initiatives. Dr. Saha apprised the Union Home Minister of the prevailing situation in Tripura and briefed him on the progress of various central and state-sponsored projects currently underway.
Following the meeting, Dr. Saha shared an update on Facebook, writing, “Pleased to meet Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji in New Delhi this evening. Shared updates on Tripura’s ongoing development initiatives and other key matters. Grateful for his constant guidance and unwavering support in accelerating our growth journey.”
Officials described the meeting as “constructive and forward-looking,” with Amit Shah reaffirming the Centre’s continued support to Tripura in ensuring inclusive and sustainable development. Sources indicated that the discussions also touched upon improving law and order, strengthening administrative efficiency, and enhancing connectivity across the northeastern state.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Saha also called on Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan to personally congratulate him on his election to the high office. Sharing a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Saha wrote, “His visionary leadership, dedication, and commitment to public service will continue to inspire us all. I also extended a cordial invitation to the Hon’ble Vice President to visit Tripura for the darshan of Maa Tripura Sundari.”
The Chief Minister later met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss the modernization and expansion of Tripura’s railway infrastructure — a critical step in strengthening the state’s connectivity with the rest of the Northeast and mainland India.
During the meeting, Dr. Saha presented several proposals to the Railway Minister, including:
-
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express between Agartala and Guwahati,
-
The doubling of key railway tracks,
-
The operation of electric trains for enhanced energy efficiency, and
-
The upgradation of coaches and railway stations across Tripura.
Officials stated that Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of timely execution of these projects to facilitate seamless passenger movement and boost economic activities through improved transport networks.
In addition to physical infrastructure, Dr. Saha underscored the significance of enhancing digital and communication infrastructure in the state. He highlighted initiatives such as the development of new and upgraded facilities for the Tripura Film and Television Institute (TFTI) in Agartala, the establishment of modern call centres, and the strengthening of the Cyber Security Hub to safeguard the state’s digital ecosystem.
A senior official said these meetings reflect Tripura’s comprehensive approach to modernization — blending connectivity, governance, and technology-driven growth. “Under Dr. Saha’s leadership, the government is focused on leveraging central support to ensure balanced development across sectors,” the official added.
Political analysts in Agartala view the meetings as part of the Chief Minister’s sustained engagement with central leadership to ensure that Tripura continues to receive priority under the Government of India’s ‘Act East’ policy. With enhanced focus on connectivity, communication, and digital empowerment, the state aims to position itself as a hub of regional trade and innovation in the coming years.
