Various public and private cultural organizations, alongside voluntary groups, orchestrated a multitude of programs to honor the revered poet’s enduring contributions to literature and culture.
In the heart of Agartala, the Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Tripura orchestrated a grand cultural extravaganza at Rabindra Kanan in the Kunjavan area. Secretary PK Chakraborty presided over the event as the chief guest, adhering to election regulations amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The festivities commenced with the garlanding of Tagore’s statue, followed by captivating performances of Rabindra Sangeet, poetry recitations, and dance renditions by artists of diverse ages.
Adding to the vibrant celebrations, the Bengali Cultural Circle organized a morning ferry program, setting sail from Umakanta Academy and winding through the city’s streets before returning to its starting point. Concurrently, left-wing student and youth organizations convened at Chatra-Juva Bhavan in Melermath to pay homage to Tagore’s legacy with their own commemorative event.
In a separate initiative, Yuva Congress and NSUI organized Rabindra Jayanti celebrations at Congress Bhavan in Agartala, underscoring the broad embrace of Tagore’s teachings and philosophy across various ideological spectrums.
As the sun set, the Department of Information and Culture curated an evening of cultural delights at Rabindrashat Barshiki Bhavan in the capital, providing yet another platform for enthusiasts to revel in the timeless creations of Kabiguru Tagore.

In a significant gesture, the Tripura Santiniketan Cultural Academy donated a portrait of Rabindranath Tagore to the Tripura Santiniketan Medical College campus, marking the commencement of its journey. This cultural academy, integral to the upcoming Tripura Knowledge City, aims to foster a vibrant and wholesome cultural environment. Dignitaries, including college president Dr. Malay Peet and the principal of the proposed medical college, Prof. Dr. Deepsree Bhattacharya, paid tribute by garlanding the portrait of the revered Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore.
Dr. Malay Peet expressed immense pride on behalf of the Bengali community, highlighting the ambitious developments in the Tripura Knowledge City project, including the establishment of the Santiniketan Medical College and plans for a digital university.
