The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has extended a helping hand to the people of violence-stricken Manipur by sending relief materials on Wednesday. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha flagged off a lorry carrying essential commodities, including food items, in front of the state BJP office.
The Chief Minister informed the media that approximately 25 tons of relief items were being dispatched to Manipur through this vehicle. The relief materials will be handed over to the Manipur unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party to ensure their distribution among the affected population.
Recently, Manipur was marred by ethnic violence, leading to the establishment of temporary relief camps. In light of the safety concerns for approximately 250 Tripura students studying in Manipur, the state government arranged for their return.
Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Tinku Roy, commented on social media that Manipur was gradually returning to normalcy, although a significant number of people still resided in relief camps. He expressed his solidarity with the people of Manipur and appealed for peace and tranquility.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Chairman of TIDC Nabadal Banik, BJP State General Secretary Papia Dutta, and other officials were present during the flagging-off ceremony.
The BJP’s compassionate gesture towards Manipur reflects their commitment to supporting fellow citizens during times of distress. By providing relief materials, Tripura’s BJP unit aims to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the violence, fostering an atmosphere of harmony and solidarity.
