Agartala, Nov 12: Unrest prevailed at Barmura area after allegedly attack on some BJP leaders including ST Morcha national president Samir Oraon at Barmura on Saturday evening.

Luckily, they had a narrow escape but their vehicles suffered damages. The security personnel (PSO) had to open fire in the air to save the BJP leaders.

Speaking to the media, the BJP ST Morcha president alleged that the Tipra Motha workers, who were returning from a rally, had launched the attack when he along with state president Bikas Sebbarma, MDC Bidyut Debbarma, Patiram Tripura and others was returning to Agartala from a party programme in Kanchanmpur.

“It was our good luck that we had a narrow escape. A Bolero vehicle was vandalized. The PSOs had to open fire in the air to save our lives,” Oraon told reporters.

He also said, the Tipra Motha supporters already started indulging in ‘gundagiri’ and are harassing people instead of working for the people.

Previously an incident was reported from Barmura ONGC plant area– several vehicles carrying home-bound Tipra Moth supporters had come under attack; stone-pelting by miscreants.

Three Tipra Motha supporters were reportedly injured in the incident near the ONGC plant in Barmura. The injured persons were taken to Teliamura hospital.

The Tipra Motha workers present at the scene staged a blockade on the national highway protesting the attack incident. Finally, police reached the spot and managed to clear the road.
