A colourful heritage rally was organized in Agartala on Tuesday to mark the World Tourism Day. On the occasion the majestic Ujjayanta Palace, icon of Tripura, was also brightly illuminated.
The rally has been organized by Tripura Tourism Development Corporation.
The theme of World Tourism Day this year is ‘Re-thinking tourism’.
After inaugurating the heritage rally, Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said, this day is celebrated every year for expansion and publicity of tourism and cultural exchange. State’s tourism treasure and possibilities are being showcased through seminars, bike rallies, bicycle rallies and exhibitions in the state from September 22.
He said, after the Covid-19 situation, tourism sector has started recovering. Tourists have started moving from one place to the other. Tourism binds different cultures together and creates amiable bond between people.
It carries the message of strengthening relations between countries. The state tourism has forged ahead to some extent with this mindset. The infrastructure of state tourism is being newly created to further attract more tourists to the state.
On the occasion of the Heritage Rally youths belonging to both Bengali and indigenous communities took part in their bright and radiant traditional attire.
The heritage rally commenced its journey from Ujjayanta Palace premises and had moved around different roads in the city and ended at Heritage Park. The event was followed by a cultural programme at Heritage Park.
The rally was organized mainly to celebrate the Tourism Day and also to create awareness among the common people about the potential and responsibilities for development of the tourism sector in the state.
Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Secretary of Tourism department Kiran Gitte, Director T. K. Chakma, Joint Director Dilip Debbarma, private tour operator and citizens of different sections have participated in the rally.
