Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stresses timely completion of development projects to improve modern facilities at tourist destinations, including Matabari, Amar Sagar, Dumboor Lake, Neermahal and Chhabimura, while reviewing TTDC projects, finances and ongoing tourism infrastructure works.
Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has stressed the need for timely completion of ongoing development projects to ensure better and modern facilities for tourists visiting various destinations across the state.
The minister made the remarks while chairing the 40th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) at his office chamber. He said the state government is committed to strengthening tourism infrastructure and providing proper facilities at historical, cultural and nature-based tourist destinations.
Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the importance of completing development works within the stipulated timeframe. He said timely execution of projects would help improve tourist facilities and contribute to the overall development of the state’s tourism sector.
During the meeting, the Tourism Minister reviewed the progress of several ongoing projects being implemented at important tourist destinations. He specifically enquired about development works at the Matabari Circuit House, Amar Sagar Lake and Dumboor Lake.
The minister also sought updates on upcoming tourism initiatives, including proposed floating restaurants at Neermahal and Chhabimura. He reviewed the status of tourist lodge construction at different locations and sought details regarding the progress of these projects.
Apart from infrastructure development, the financial position of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation was also discussed during the meeting. The minister wanted to know about the corporation’s financial status, including its income and expenditure.
Tourism Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma and Director Prashant Badal Negi presented an overview of the actions taken on decisions adopted during the previous Board meeting. They also briefed the meeting about various ongoing tourism-related development works and the income and expenditure details of the Tourism Development Corporation.
The meeting brought together senior officials from several departments to review the implementation of tourism projects and related administrative matters. Among those present were Finance Department Secretary P.K. Goyal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R.K. Samal, PWD Chief Engineer Anup Kumar Das and Deputy Secretary of the Home Department Hena Debbarma, along with other officials.
The state government’s focus on modern amenities at tourist destinations comes as Tripura seeks to improve its tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors. Locations such as Neermahal, Chhabimura, Dumboor Lake, Matabari and Amar Sagar are among the state’s prominent tourism destinations.

The minister’s emphasis on completing projects on time is expected to accelerate infrastructure development and improve the overall experience of tourists. Better tourist lodges, improved facilities and new attractions such as floating restaurants could further strengthen Tripura’s tourism potential.
The review meeting also underlined the importance of coordination among government departments and the TTDC for ensuring that development projects are implemented efficiently and within their approved timelines.
