Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inspected the ongoing Chabimura tourism development project aimed at transforming the iconic eco-tourism destination into a world-class attraction. The beautification and infrastructure upgrade, expected to be completed by October, will enhance visitor facilities and boost Tripura’s tourism sector significantly.

The state government has launched an ambitious development project to transform Chabimura, one of the most scenic and popular tourist destinations in the state. Known as the “Amazon of Northeast India” due to its mesmerizing natural beauty, lush greenery, and unique landscape, Chabimura is now undergoing extensive beautification and infrastructure enhancement works.

The project, which is expected to be completed by October this year, is being implemented by the Tourism Department as part of the government’s broader strategy to attract more domestic and international tourists to the state. The initiative seeks to improve tourist-friendly infrastructure, enhance visitor experiences, and establish Chabimura as a premier eco-tourism destination in the Northeast region.

As part of the ongoing development efforts, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited the project site on Wednesday to assess the progress of the works. During the inspection, the minister reviewed various components of the project and interacted with officials overseeing its implementation.

Emphasizing the importance of quality and timely execution, Chowdhury directed the executing agencies to maintain high construction standards and ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timeline. He stressed that the successful completion of the project would significantly contribute to Tripura’s tourism growth and create new opportunities for local communities.

Following the field inspection, a detailed review meeting was conducted to evaluate the progress of the project and discuss strategies for improving tourism-related infrastructure and services. The meeting focused on enhancing visitor management systems, strengthening amenities, and ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for tourists visiting Chabimura.

Several senior officials and public representatives attended the inspection and review meeting, including ADC Executive Member C.K. Jamatia, MLA Ranjit Das, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, and Tourism Director Prashant Badal Negi. Officials from the Tourism Department, district administration, and local leadership also participated in the discussions.

The foundation stone ceremony for the project has already been completed, and construction activities are progressing steadily. Once finished, the upgraded facilities are expected to improve accessibility, visitor convenience, and the overall appeal of the destination.

Chabimura, famous for its spectacular rock carvings along the Gomati River and its rich natural surroundings, has long been considered one of Tripura’s tourism gems. The ongoing development initiative is expected to elevate its status further, drawing greater tourist footfall and contributing to the economic development of the region.
