Stage is all set for the East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency on April 26 with the slogan –“Nothing like Voting, I vote for sure”.
All steps were ensured and security arrangements were put in place to ensure free and fair polls in the East Tripura ST Parliamentary seat, said CEO Puneet Agarwal and Additional CEOs Ushajen Mog and S Bandopadhyaya in a press conference said,.
There are a total of 1,396,761 general electors, consisting of 70,25,11 males, 69,42,37 females, and 13 third-gender individuals.
According to the data provided by the Chief Electoral Officer, there are also 38,245 first-time voters. Besides, the number of Persons with Disability (PwD) voters stands at 11,012 out of which 5500 are males and 4412 are female voters. The number of female 85+ years old voters is more than that of the male voters. Out of the total 8942 voters in this category, the number of female 85+ years voters stands at 5,273 and 3669 are males.
A total of 16,260 Bru voters were enrolled under different Polling stations across the East Tripura Constituency.
The CEO said, a total of 1664 polling stations have been set up covering 30 Assembly seats under the East Tripura LS constituency. Among these polling stations, 61 are Model Polling stations while the total numbers of Women Polling Stations and PwD stations are 67 and 30 respectively. The number of Youth Polling stations is 30.
Ensuring a smooth and comfortable polling experience, several facilities like drinking water, proper lighting, Ramp for disabled persons, Toilets, shade for the voters in queue etc. are made available in all Polling stations.
One RO and 30 AROs are overseeing the polling proceedings in the East LS constituency. Besides, two General Observers, two Police Observers and one Expenditure Observer have been assigned while 1365 numbers of Micro Observers have been appointed.
On the day of the poll, every event will be webcast maintaining secrecy of voting at every polling station. Both who are in inside of the polling booth and voters in the queue outside of the polling booth will be under CCTV surveillance.
In the meantime, the District Magistrate for North Tripura district Debapriya Bardhan on Wednesday said the polling personnel accompanied by the security personnel would disperse with EVMs, VVPATs and other poll materials from Bir Bikram Institution ground in Dharmanagar, Panchayat Samiti office premise in Panisagar and Kanchanpur Higher Secondary School premise on Thursday to reach the polling booths.
He said, section 144 will be in force from Wednesday 5 PM to April 27 6 AM. Only CAPFs, police, media persons, election staff, persons engaged to the election duty will be allowed to move within 200 meters of each polling booth, he told reporters.
District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty, who was also present in the media interaction programme on Wednesday said that police and paramilitary forces were on strict vigilance across the district, while regular vehicle checking, hotel checking was underway to ensure peaceful voting.
