Agartala, Feb 08, 2025, By Our Correspondent64
As part of their weekend school outing program, students from Blue Mount School, Behliangchhip, Jampui Hill, visited Jampui Green Hill Park, Hmunpui, today. The visit was not only a recreational experience but also an opportunity for the students to contribute to the preservation of the park through voluntary social work. Demonstrating a commendable sense of responsibility, the students actively participated in cleaning the premises, leaving a lasting positive impression for future visitors to emulate.
Jampui Green Hill Park is a significant initiative by the Tripura State Forest Department, designed to promote clean, green, and sustainable tourism in the picturesque Jampui Hill region. In line with the state’s commitment to environmental conservation and community uplift, the Forest Department has entrusted the management of the park to the local community through the Kim Kim Self Help Group (SHG). Under a profit-sharing agreement, the SHG oversees park maintenance and manages revenue collection through entry fees and other user charges.
This collaborative model aligns with the Government of Tripura’s vision of fostering eco-friendly and community-driven tourism. The initiative ensures that local stakeholders actively participate in and benefit from tourism-related activities, thus enhancing economic opportunities in the region.
The local community of Jampui Hill has expressed deep gratitude to the Tourism Minister, Shri Sushanta Choudhury, for his unwavering support and commitment to sustainable tourism. Additionally, they have acknowledged the efforts of District Forest Officer Suman Malla, and Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Suman Mitra, for their dedicated efforts in preserving the region’s rich biodiversity and supporting community-driven initiatives.
The visit of the Blue Mount School students not only served as an educational and leisure experience but also reinforced the importance of responsible tourism. Their voluntary contribution in maintaining the cleanliness of the park stands as an inspiring example of youth engagement in environmental conservation.
