Sri Lanka’s Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake confirmed that preparations for the general elections on November 14 are well underway.
Speaking to the media, he assured the public that all electoral officials are actively working to ensure a smooth election process. He expressed confidence that the 1.7 million voters would cast their votes at polling stations on the polling day without any hassle. A total of 13,421 polling stations would be set up based on the number of registered voters.
To discuss the preparations further, a meeting was held in Colombo today in which all Returning Officers from Electoral Districts and Assistant Election Commissioners participated.
The General Elections are scheduled to be held on the 14th of November, eleven months ahead of the scheduled completion of the tenure of the outgoing parliament. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake dissolved the 225-member Parliament, days after assuming his office in September this year.
