In a significant achievement, Tripura has made remarkable progress in various sectors, as highlighted by the NITI Aayog report. The state has achieved 83 out of 100 marks for providing drinking water and toilets for all, and 57 out of 100 in economic development for all. These milestones were celebrated during the second anniversary of Tripura Power Transmission Limited (TPTL) with a mega health camp at Urja Bhavan in 79 Tila, Agartala.

During the event, three retired engineers and employees of the Power Department were felicitated for their outstanding contributions. Distinguished guests, including Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath and Tripura Power Transmission Limited General Manager Ranjan Debbarman, were present at the event.

As the chief speaker, Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted significant milestones and changes within the power sector. He mentioned that the previously combined tasks of power generation, transmission, and distribution have now been distinctly separated. Emphasizing the importance of electricity in modern life, he noted that even mobile phones and hospitals face challenges without a steady power supply, underlining electricity as the main driving force of the contemporary world.

Minister Nath also shared insights from the World Health Organization, which defines a healthy individual as one who is mentally, physically, economically, and socially well. He stated that the government is actively working on maintaining and improving public health in these areas.

Reflecting on the economic progress in Tripura, the Minister noted a substantial increase in the annual income of the people. "In 2017-18, it was ₹1.44 lakh, which has risen to ₹1.77 lakh in six years. Tripura scored 82 out of 100 in poverty alleviation, although Tamil Nadu secured the first position with 86 marks. In the domain of health for all, Tripura obtained 67 out of 100 marks, with Gujarat leading at 85 marks," he said.

Furthermore, the Minister highlighted a remarkable improvement in access to purified drinking water, which has increased from 3 percent before 2018 to 84 percent currently. "According to the NITI Aayog report, Tripura achieved 83 out of 100 marks for providing drinking water and toilets for all. Additionally, the state scored 57 out of 100 in economic development for all," he added.

On the topic of health awareness, Minister Nath pointed out a significant reduction in the consumption of tobacco and alcohol among men in Tripura. From 68 percent tobacco users in 2016, the figure has dropped to 46 percent, and from 57 percent alcohol users, it has decreased to 31 percent. This information underscores the growing health consciousness among the people of Tripura, he informed.

Concluding the event, Minister Ratan Lal Nath expressed optimism about the positive impact of the day's health services on the community. He later presented awards to the retired engineers and employees, Subrata Dutta Chowdhury, Subal Biswas, and Arun Kumar Acharya, in recognition of their valuable contributions.
