The government today informed the Lok Sabha that the Department of Fertilisers has ensured adequate availability of fertilisers across the country during Kharif 2024 as well as the ongoing Rabi season 2024-25.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers Jagat Prakash Nadda said that the movement of all major subsidised fertilisers throughout the country is monitored by an online web-based monitoring system called the Integrated Fertiliser Monitoring System.
He also said that a regular weekly video conference is conducted jointly by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Department of Fertilisers with state agriculture officials.
Mr. Nadda said that appropriate actions are taken to dispatch fertilisers as indicated by the state governments. He informed that no state and Union Territory has reported any shortage of pesticides in the last five years. He also said that India is dependent on imports of finished fertilisers such as urea, DAP, and raw materials like rock phosphate, phosphoric acid, and natural gas for domestic production of urea, DAP, and NPK fertilisers.
