Commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) Shivam Verma today said that his organisation is ready to share experiences and hand-holding with other urban local bodies of the country regarding waste management and cleanliness. Mr. Verma expressed his views at a plenary session of a two-day national conference at Patna organised by the NGO Sulabh International Social Service Organisation.

The commissioner said Indore has maintained its status as the cleanest city in India in the last several Swachh Bharat surveys due to its core principle of the best waste segregation and garbage-based revenue model.

He said that despite several development activities like metro rail construction and others in his ULB, it has maintained its AQI under 100 points.

The commissioner said before 2015 the condition of Indore city was dilapidated, and the city was grappling with issues of sanitation and cleanliness.

Mr. Verma added that in the success story of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), its citizens have played a crucial role with a pledge and commitment to a better destiny. He said a sense of ownership and responsibility has played an important role in cleanliness.

The commissioner said the corporation has a robust IEC model; it takes innovative decisions and penalties being charged for violators, which helps in sustained efforts to keep the city clean.
