Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse today said that India’s initiatives in youth-centric policies and initiatives highlight its commitment to fostering a robust and inclusive ecosystem. She said this while addressing the media in New Delhi today. Ms. Khadse said that the government’s Khelo India and Target Olympic Podium Scheme initiative has been fruitful as the country has won six Olympic medals and 29 Paralympic medals, which were organised in Paris this year. She added that the government is working for gender equality with initiatives like Nari Shakti Adhiniyam and Sukanya Samruddhi.
Speaking about employment and skill development in the country, Ms. Khadse said that initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushal Yojna have trained millions with significant employment outcomes. Mentioning the country’s ambition of bidding for the 2036 Olympics, she said that the government is focused on building and maintaining the infrastructure across the country.
Speaking about economic and startup growth, Ms. Khadse highlighted that India has become the world’s third-largest startup hub, hosting 1.4 lakh recognised startups and 117 unicorns. She also said that the country’s unemployment rate has decreased by 3.2 percent in 2023-24.
