Agartala, Nov 29: India is growing and it will become the world's third-largest economy by the end of the decade, Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankar further said on Tuesday.
“India is growing. We are documenting progress that the world has never seen before. India has already overtaken the UK as the world's fifth largest economy and will become the world's third largest economy by the end of the decade," Dharkar said.
In this context he appreciated Tripura's contribution to the country's development and said, "Our progress is unstoppable and Tripura is a part of it."
The vice president seems confident that the country will become the world's third-largest economy by the end of the decade.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, who visited the state on a-day tour, inaugurated a seminar on New Horizon of Educational Development in Tripura at Rabindra Hall in Maharaja Bir Bikram College on Tuesday.
Addressing the inaugural programme, the Vice President said that he was very happy to come to the state after assuming the post of Vice President of the country.
He said, "Words cannot describe the satisfaction and joy that my wife Sudesh Dhankar and I felt on this first visit as Vice President to Northeast India."
"After coming to the state, I first visited the Maa Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur and sought the blessings of Maa Tripura Sundari for the welfare of humanity and the development of Tripura as well as India," the Vice President said.
He expressed optimism that the renovation and development being done in the temple will be historic.
“I was very happy to see the changes that were taking place. I am sure the development by Diwali next year will be historic. I appeal to everyone in the country to spare time to visit this beautiful land gifted by nature,” said Dhankar.
Motivating the students present on the occasion, the Vice President advised the students to progress in the field of education.
He said that education is the only resource, the only vehicle that can bring about the necessary changes in development.
Highlighting the development initiative towards the advancement of the country's education system, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's role in bringing about a change in the field by introducing the New Education Policy (NEP) - 2020.
Dhankar believes that NEP-2020 will act as a game changer in the education system of the country.
Knowledge is the path to immortality and this immortality drives humanity, the Vice President said.
“There was a time when one had an idea and it was difficult to implement it in practice but now with the change in government policy anyone can turn their idea into reality through a startup,” he added.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Vice Chancellor of Tripura University Dr Ganga Prasad Prasain and other dignitaries were present in the programme.
Later in the afternoon, the Vice President left the state with his wife for Kolkata. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other dignitaries gave them a warm farewell at MBB Airport.
