Gomati district is now all set for the Lok Sabha elections and administration is leaving no stone unturned to make the exercise free and fair with massive security arrangements and several restrictions on gathering and vehicle movements being put in place. The poll will begin at 7 am tomorrow -Friday.
District Magistrate of Gomati Tarit Kanti Chakma in a press conference said, Bagma, Matabari, Kakrabon-Shalgara and RK Put assembly constituencies are included in the West Tripura Parliamentary segment.
Chakma said, there are total 244 polling stations in these four assembly segments for the Lok Sabha elections—of them, 31 are model polling stations and as many as 17 are fully run by women.
He said. 100 per cent webcasting in these polling stations have also been ensured.
The District Magistrate said, even as the vocal poll campaigning ended yesterday, the civil administration already enforced several restrictions in public gatherings and took necessary steps to monitor any sort of allurement or coercion of voters by any political element.
“While no more than 5 persons can gather together at any place at a time, none will be allowed to carry any weapons, sharp or blunt, bombs or, even stones. Besides, necessary measures have also been taken to prevent allurement of voters with money or alcohol and mischiefs by anti-social elements”, the District Magistrate said. Restrictions were also put on riding two motor bikes or two cars together.
He said, no loud speaker or gathering of any kind will be allowed within 200 meters perimeter of any polling station and the order would remain in force till the end of the polling peacefully.
However, the movements of vehicles belonging to the security forces, police department, Polling personnel and other essential services like the media with proper identity etc would remain outside of this order.
Gathering of the electors coming to cast their vote and standing on voting lines, regular employees of government or non-government establishments and regular transportation vehicles, persons related to educational institutions and gathered for educational purposes would also be outside the restrictions thus imposed.
Electors would be allowed to come to the polling stations with their personal car with family members but the car should parked out of 200 metres perimeter of the polling station.
Restrictions would also not be there on the gathering at religious or other social and family functions, markets etc. But in these places also allurement to voters would be strongly dealt with. Apart from that candidates’ vehicles with proper approval letters from the RO or other Election authorities would also be allowed to ply on the road.
