The Durga Puja Carnival (Mayer Gomon) captivated Agartala with vibrant festivities and cultural extravaganza, marking the conclusion of Sharad Utsav. Thousands of devotees gathered in front of MTB Girls’ School to witness the grand procession, which featured colorful idols, artistic themes, and traditional crafts from various puja committees.
The streets echoed with the rhythmic beats of the *dhak* and conch sounds, creating a soulful atmosphere of devotion and excitement. Participants in traditional attire added to the festive spirit, while cultural performances like folk dances and devotional songs highlighted Tripura’s diverse heritage. The lively atmosphere was filled with the chants of “Durga Maa Ki Jai,” uniting the crowd in celebration.
The carnival also served as a platform to promote eco-friendly practices during the ceremonial immersion of Durga idols, underscoring the importance of sustainability. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who inaugurated the event, emphasized that such festivals strengthen the bond of unity among the people of Tripura, aligning with the government’s vision of "Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura."
With 45 puja committees participating, the event saw massive crowds lining the streets to bid farewell to the goddess Durga. As emotions ran high, the festivities culminated in a spectacular show of devotion, culture, and community spirit.
