Delhi Assembly Polls: EC deploys Over 1.8 Lakh Personnel for assembly elections

Voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly polls will take place tomorrow. All arrangements are in full swing for the smooth and safe conduct of the polling. The Election Commission has deployed more than 180,000 personnel for the assembly elections. Talking to media in New Delhi today, Special Commissioner of Police Crime Branch, Devesh Chandra Srivastava, said that as per the instructions of the election commission, elaborate arrangements have been made. He added that the polling parties are moving to the respective booths.
Mr. Srivastava also informed that in the last 24 hours, stringent actions were taken, preventive arrests happened, and action against inducements was done. He said that police have arrested 14 proclaimed offenders and 25 FIRs were registered. Mr Srivastava also said that four FIRs were registered against illegal meetings, manipulated videos on social media, and unauthorised rallies. He said that 340 persons were booked under different sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, with 278 arrested in excise cases.
