The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura is on track to meet its membership enrollment target, with the state party organization achieving 90-95% of its goal, according to Rajdeep Roy, BJP’s Tripura in-charge. Since launching the drive on September 3, the party has enrolled over 10.51 lakh people, edging closer to its aim of registering 12 lakh members by November 15.
In a statement to the media, Roy highlighted the enthusiasm among citizens, noting that out of the 10.51 lakh members registered so far, 8.51 lakh have signed up through online channels, while two lakh joined via offline registration. The enrollment process includes both new members and those renewing their membership.
Roy, who is also the Vice-President of BJP’s Assam unit, praised the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha and State BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee. He credited them, along with dedicated party workers, for the campaign's success, adding that Tripura's performance could rival that of larger states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam in terms of membership growth.
Following the drive’s conclusion, Roy stated that active members would be selected to participate in internal party elections, further strengthening BJP’s organizational structure in Tripura.
Chief Minister Manik Saha, who participated in the membership drive at Bardowali Mandal, expressed appreciation for the widespread support, noting that the public’s interest reflects strong approval for the party. “The people’s spontaneous response during the drive demonstrates their trust and love for the BJP,” Saha said. In its second phase, the drive has seen party leaders and grassroots workers canvassing across various regions to engage with prospective members.
Saha, a former state BJP President, also joined enrollment efforts within his own constituency, reaching out to residents across different wards to encourage participation. "Our leaders and Karyakartas are making efforts everywhere," he remarked, emphasizing that people's willingness to join the BJP on their own highlights the party's growing influence.
The party's initiative aligns with its strategy to solidify its base in Tripura, following significant victories in recent state elections. With the enrollment period extended to November 15, the BJP expects to meet and potentially exceed its target, setting a foundation for future growth and consolidating its presence in the northeastern state.
