Union Home Minister and Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah will inaugurate eight significant cooperative projects during his two-day visit to Tripura, beginning December 22. The Cooperative Conference 2024, to be held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, aims to boost the cooperative sector in the state.
Addressing the media, Tripura Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia announced that Shah will also preside over the 72nd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Regional Council during the visit. This conference coincides with the United Nations' declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives.
The event will feature 18 stalls showcasing the achievements of Tripura's cooperative sector and promoting public engagement. Shah is expected to inspect these exhibits and flag off two key mobile initiatives: the Bharat Brand mobile van by NCCF and the Rural Mart mobile van by NABARD.
Among the major projects to be inaugurated are a petrol pump in Udaipur (Gomati district), a consumer store in the Bru Settlement area of Dhalai district, a fertilizer sales center in Mohanpur, and a Smart Training Center in Agartala. Additionally, 50 primary cooperative societies will receive micro ATMs from the Tripura State Cooperative Bank.
Shah will also oversee the distribution of mini dal seeds provided by NCCF and witness the signing of an MoU between the National Co-operative Organics Federation and the Tripura State Organic Development Agency.
Chief Minister Manik Saha, MP Biplab Kumar Deb, AMC Mayor Deepak Majumdar, and senior officials, including the Union Ministry of Cooperation Secretary, will attend the event.
