Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), led by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, celebrated three years of service on December 8, 2024. Mayor Dipak Majumder announced the milestone during a council meeting held on Tuesday at the Corporation Office Conference Hall.
The meeting, chaired by Mayor Majumder, included Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, ward Corporators, and concerned officials. It focused on finalizing the date for the much-anticipated 'Sharad Samman' program, which recognizes clubs for their exceptional contributions to making Durga Puja celebrations memorable for citizens.
“Today, we aim to finalize the date for the Sharad Samman program, likely before December 30, to honor the hard work of the clubs in all AMC wards,” said Mayor Majumder.
Highlighting AMC’s achievements over three years, Majumder stated that the Corporation has focused on holistic urban development and ensuring access to basic amenities such as proper drainage, roads, and street lighting across all wards. “The cooperation of the current government and support from the people have transformed Agartala into a truly beautiful city,” he added.
While addressing reporters, Majumder acknowledged existing issues like poor road conditions in certain areas and the growing mosquito problem. He assured citizens that these matters would be resolved promptly.
The Mayor emphasized AMC’s commitment to addressing civic issues and ensuring the overall welfare of city residents. “We are dedicated to improving services and reaching out to the public. In the coming days, we will continue to prioritize the welfare of our citizens and take up new programs to mark our successful three-year journey,” he said.
