Following the total debacle in the Tripura local body polls, Trinamool Congress revived its activities in the state with an eye to strengthen its organization up to the grassroots.

TMC MP Sushmita Dev on Monday said, an extended meeting of the party’s steering committee was held led by general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Agartala on Sunday.

She said, Subal Bhowmik was already asked to hold meetings to seek suggestions from district and block level to appoint leaders.

“After verifying the ground reports, a shortlist of block and district leaderships will be made by one month and it will be sent to AITC general secretary,” the MP told the media.

She said the steering committee meeting also focused on the shortcomings at TMC’s end in the recent civic body polls in Tripura.

Replying to a query, Dev said, about 99.9 percent chance is there that a state party of the TMC would be opened by January 31 next.

Meanwhile the TMC in a series of tweets highlighted that the government had created pressure on students and employees to be present during the Prime Minister’s rally on Tuesday.

In this context, Dev said the Prime Minister’s rally would fail to make any impact on TMC’s position in Tripura as BJP’s credibility had already turned zero.

Meanwhile, before leaving the state on Tuesday TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had interactions with the journalists.
