In an attempt to highlight the ‘failures’ of the BJP-IPFT government the Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress on Tuesday came out with an innovative idea – Tripura Files , a ka Kashmir files.
In a press conference at the TMC leaders released the first part of the ‘Tripura Files’ which largely based on water crisis , especially in the rural areas.
The entire endeavour was planned keeping in mind the ensuing by polls to four assembly seats where TMC would also be fighting.
Tripura state in-charge and former West Bengal minister Rajib Banerjee said that the ‘Tripura Files’ would have several episodes highlighting the poor performances of the incumbent government as well as previous governments.
“Since India’s Independence specially during the Left Front’s 35 year’s governance (1978 to 1988 and 1993 to 2018) and BJP-led government’s 51 months rule, people of Tripura were not only deprived but also suffered with huge undemocratic activities, violence and atrocities. All these would be highlighted in the ‘Tripura Files’,” he told the media.
“We are making a series called ‘Tripura Files’ on behalf of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) that would depict the issues that have been on the minds of the people for the last 8 months since before the municipal elections. Be it health or other issues, people need to judge before going to booths to cast their votes for the upcoming by-elections on June 23 next,” said MP to Rajya Sabha and TMC Tripura state Core Committee Member Sushmita Dev.
TMC state president Subal Bhowmik, party’s state-in-charge Rajib Banerjee and four by-poll candidates were present at the press conference.
The TMC leaders claimed that the ruling BJP would lose all four seats in the ensuing by-elections if the elections are held in a free and fair atmosphere. According to them, AITC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee would join the campaign for the candidates soon and the party would also release a list of star campaigners for the by-polls.
Banerjee said, the political base of the BJP had eroded due to ‘bad governance’ in the last four years’ rule and people have lost faith in the saffron party.
“Except TMC, all other opposition parties including CPI-M, Congress and other regional parties had failed to deliver the role of opposition against BJP. Our party is the only party that fought against ruling BJP to protect people’s rights in Tripura. So, the real alternative of BJP is only TMC”, Banerjee said.
