TIPRA Motha workers attacked the Khumulwng bound BJP workers and supporters. The BJP workers were atttacked both on their way to and also from party president J P Nadda’s rally in TTAADC headquarters.
According to reports available more than 30 BJP workers were injured in the attacks that were launched at Jagaibari in Pramodnagar under Bishramganj police station and Namanjoypara under Champahaor Police station.
BJP supporters from Melaghar Thalibari and Nalchhar who were travelling to Khumulwng in three buses and Bolero cars to Khumulwng were attackied by TIPRA Motha activists- who started pelting stones and damaged their vehicles and as the cars stopped the BJP workers were ganged upon and brutally beaten.
Bishramganj Police rushed to the spot and with the help of the Fire Service personnel rescued the injured BJP workers. As many as 26 BJP supporters were admitted to Bishramganj Hospital and among them, three were referred to GB Hospital with critical injuries while others are undergoing treatment at the Bishramganj Hospital.
BJP Sepahijala District Committee leaders visited the violence victims in the hospital and a case was filed with Bishramganj police station. Total nine people involved in the attacks were identified. Police is searching for them.
In another incident 8 BJP Janajati Morcha workers were severely injured in an attacked committed in a similar fashion.
The injured were rushed to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.
On being informed about the attack police personnel from several police stations of Khowai rushed to the spot and brought the injured to hospital. Among the injured were also BJP Asharambari Mandal General Secretary Fallen Debbarma, Ekaran Debbarma, Radharani Debbarma, Bimala Debbarma, Tapan Debbarma, Piyush Debbarma, MB Debbarma. Presently the injured were admitted in Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital.
