In a tragic incident three daily wage earners died of Asphyxiation when they got into a septic tank in Sabroom for cleaning. Deceased Sahidul Alam (21), Abu Kalam Shekh (20) were from Silchar while Bhajan Singh ( 45) was a local. One more Suman De also suffered seriously as he tried to bring them out of the tank.
Sources said it was first Sahidul who went into the septic tank and immediately started screaming. Abu Kalam then went to rescue him but he also started screaming and died. Bhajan Singh followed the two in an attempt to bring them out but he also succumbed to the poisonous gas. The son of the owner of the house Suman rushed in and got down but he also fell terribly sick.
He , however, fortunate enough to be rescued. All of them were taken to hospital where doctors pronounced the three workers brought dead. Suman survived. SDM Sabroom and other senior officials rushed to the spot. A pall of gloom has descended in Sabroom.
