Saturday recorded first deaths of the third wave Covid surge in the state. According to official statement three persons died of Covid 19 on Saturday even as 546 people found positive out of total 5752 samples were tested .

Out of total 546 West Tripura district recorded 376 positive.  Positivity rate in the state stood on Saturday at 9.49 per cent. There was a marginal decrease in the positivity rate from 10.58 percent on Friday.

It is believed that the positivity rate could be higher as many were avoiding tests this times as the Covid third wave did not appear as agonising as before and with slight fever, cough or cold for two or three days symptoms considerably lessened.

“The three deaths that were reported were not unexpected considering the sheer number of positive cases. Since the this Covid variant spreads much faster and affects much easily, the positivity figure is likely to remain at the same graph or increase slightly in the coming days”,  said one doctor who did not want to be named.

In the GB CovidICUs there are about 40 patients as of Saturday.

He pointed out that already experts predicted an approximate 32, 331 cases with a good number of children included in the figure.

“All must follow the Covid norms – masks, social distancing, sanitizing hands etc or the Covid surge would continue’, he warned.
