The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) concluded the 2026 examination cycle with the declaration of Year Bachor Bachao results. Madhyamik pass rates increased to 84.93%, Higher Secondary reached 80.65%, highlighting improved student performance while revealing district-wise disparities requiring focused educational interventions.
The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has officially concluded the 2026 academic examination cycle with the declaration of the Year Saving (Bachhar Bachao) Examination results, bringing the curtain down on this year’s Madhyamik (Secondary) and Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinations. The final results indicate a modest but significant improvement in pass percentages, reaffirming the importance of the Year Saving initiative in providing students with another opportunity to complete their academic year successfully.
Announcing the results at a press conference on Thursday, TBSE President Dr. Dhananjay Gan Choudhury stated that the publication of the Year Saving examination results marks the formal conclusion of the Board’s 2026 examination process. He observed that while the main examination results were announced on May 24, later than the April 30 declaration in 2023, the Year Saving results were released on July 30, only a few days later than last year’s July 24 announcement.
According to the Board, the Madhyamik pass percentage witnessed an increase from 84.18 percent after the main examinations to 84.93 percent following the Year Saving examinations. A total of 758 candidates appeared for the supplementary examination, of whom 239 students successfully qualified. As a result, the overall number of successful candidates increased to 27,333 out of 32,184 students, reflecting the positive impact of the initiative.
TBSE Secretary Dr. Jaydeep Chakraborty highlighted another encouraging achievement, noting that 292 schools across Tripura secured a 100 percent pass rate in the Madhyamik examinations. The achievement demonstrates consistent academic performance in a large number of educational institutions across the state.
The Higher Secondary (Class 12) results also registered an improvement after the Year Saving examination. Out of 1,570 students who received a second opportunity, 350 candidates passed successfully. Consequently, the overall pass percentage rose from 79.33 percent to 80.65 percent. Of the 26,504 students who appeared for the Higher Secondary examination this year, 21,374 have now successfully cleared the examination.
The Board further informed that 66 Higher Secondary schools achieved a 100 percent pass rate, reflecting commendable academic standards in several institutions despite the overall Higher Secondary pass percentage remaining slightly lower than that recorded in the previous academic year.
The district-wise performance continued to display considerable variations. In the Madhyamik examinations, Gomati district emerged as the best-performing district with a pass percentage of 89.07 percent, followed closely by Sepahijala at 88.58 percent. Dhalai district, however, recorded the lowest success rate at 72.65 percent, indicating the need for additional academic support and targeted interventions.
In the Higher Secondary examinations, Sepahijala district secured the top position with an impressive 85.54 percent pass rate. South Tripura followed with 84.51 percent, while North Tripura recorded 82.54 percent. Dhalai once again remained at the bottom with a pass percentage of 69.05 percent, highlighting persistent educational disparities among districts.
Education officials emphasized that the Year Saving Examination continues to play a crucial role in reducing dropout rates by providing students with an additional opportunity to overcome academic setbacks. The initiative has enabled hundreds of students to complete their schooling successfully and continue their higher education without losing an academic year.

The final pass percentages of 84.93 percent in Madhyamik and 80.65 percent in Higher Secondary demonstrate incremental academic improvement across the state. While the impressive number of schools achieving perfect pass rates reflects the dedication of students, teachers, and institutions, the noticeable district-wise performance gaps underline the need for focused educational planning and resource allocation to ensure more balanced academic outcomes across Tripura in the coming years.
