
On 27 March 2023 at 5pm at the Agartala Press Club on ground floor under the supervision of Sahitya Adda (Literary Rendezvous) and in association with Children’s Literature Research Centre and Art and Social Science Forum of North-East Tripura Bangla Academy organized a remembrance of the arrival of Rabindranath Tagore in Tripura during the reign of Radhakishore Manikya on 27 March 1899 through speech, song and dance. Dr Rabindra Kumar Datta presided over the remembrance celebration. Before the function started one-minute silence was observed in memory of poet Chandrakanta Murasingh, former Director, NECOL, North-East Branch of the Sahitya Akademi, who died this day in the morning. In his address of welcome Dr Malay Deb, Secretary, expressed gratitude on behalf of Tripura Bangla Academy ri all invitees present. In his pre-inauguration speech Dr Bhaskar Roy Barman, chairman, declared that Tripura Bangla Academy will celebrate this day every year as ‘Remembrance Day’ and that with Rabindranath Tagore Maharaj Bir Chandra Kanikya Bahadur, Maharaj Radhakisore Manikya and Bir Bikram Manikya will be discussed, Dr Satyadeo Poddar, Vice-Chancellor, MBB University inaugurated the remembrance celebration. Sangeeta Dewanji, Vice-president, read out message wishing the celebration success, sent to Dr Bhaskar Roy Barman by Ram Kumar Mukhopadhyay, former Regional Secretary,Eastern Region, Sahitya Akademi. former Director, Visva Bharati Publishing Department, former Convener, Bengali Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi and former President, Bharatiya Bhash Parishad, and presently President, Sarat Samiti,
Besides Prof. Satyadeo Poddar at the celebration were present Dr Nirmal Das, Professor, Department of Bengali, Tripura Central University as Chief Guest, Sanjib Deb, Editor, North-East Colors as Guest of Honour, Prof. Manbardhan Paul from Bangladesh, as special guest, poet Krishnakusum Paul, Subimal Roy and Dr Geeta Debnath, eminent writers and advisers, Subhrangshu Sekhar Bhattacharya, executive member, Group song was presented under the direction of Geetashri Banik by singers belonging to Murchhana Sangee Shiksha Kendra and group dance by dancers belonging to Nrityarhythm under the direction of Rahul Das. Solo singers were Sudiptasekhar Mishra, Debashis Endow, Chitra Sarkar and Biswanath Chanda. Original poems were presented by Sanjit Banik, Bimalendra Chakraborty, Pratyus Deb, Nandita Bhattacharya, Rita Shib, Anil Kumar Nath, Biplab Orang, Sekhar C. Dutta, Debarati Dey. Dipanwita Dengupta, Chayan Saha, Rahul Shil, Panth Das, Susmita Debnath and Haridas Debnath. Sangeeta dewanji orchestrated the whole programme.
