Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury recently chaired a comprehensive review meeting concerning the progress of various projects sanctioned for the State Transport Department under the ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24’ initiative. Held at the Civil Secretariat, the meeting saw the attendance of senior officials from the State Public Works Department (R and B), Transport Department, and Rural Development Department.

Key items on the agenda included the construction of vital infrastructure such as the Gandarwisa Motor Stand in Dhalai District, Jirania Motor Stand in West District, and Melaghar Motor Stand in Sipahijala District. Additionally, the meeting scrutinized the development plans for the Nagerjala Bus Stand in West District, alongside the construction of an Integrated Transport Commissionerate and District Transport Office Building for West District.

The meeting also addressed critical issues pertaining to the construction of the Transport Department’s office buildings in Kailashahar (Unakoti district), Teliamura (Khowai district), Amtali (Sipahijala district), and Santirbazar (South Tripura district). Minister Chowdhury led discussions on the implementation status of these projects, engaging attending officials for insights and updates.

Following meticulous deliberations, the meeting resulted in key decisions aimed at advancing the progress of these initiatives. Secretary of the Transport Department Uttam Kumar Chakma, recently retired Transport Commissioner Subrata Chowdhury, Additional Chief Inspector of the Public Works Department Anup Das, Chief Inspector of the Rural Development Department Sagar Shobhan Debnath, and various other senior officials were among the attendees, contributing to the constructive discourse and decision-making process.
