The Tripura Pradesh Congress Spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty, has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for their use of the term ‘Guarantee’ and their failure to fulfill promises made to the people.
Chakraborty highlighted that despite the BJP being in power for nearly a decade at the Centre and over five years in Tripura, they have not delivered on their promises. He mentioned that while the BJP talks about development and welfare, the reality reflects a different picture, with people facing challenges like price rise and unemployment without substantial relief.
The spokesperson criticized the BJP’s promise to provide jobs to two crores youths annually, amounting to 20 crores jobs in 10 years. However, according to reports presented in the 2022 Parliament session, only seven lakh jobs have been created so far, despite numerous vacancies.
Chakraborty also lamented the lack of democratic representation for the people, with their voices, including those of the unemployed, employees, elderly, women, farmers, and others, being ignored or suppressed.
Moreover, issues such as the rising prices of essential commodities and increased drug trade were highlighted during the press briefing.
The TPCC spokesperson emphasized that the Congress party stands as the only secular democratic alternative, advocating for the rights of all sections of society. He urged people to consider voting for change in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, implying that the Congress party represents a promising alternative to the current government.
