Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated a three-day photo exhibition cum outreach programme at College of Agriculture, in Lembucherra on Wednesday. The programme was organized at the initiative of Central Bureau of Communication Agartala Field Office of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with College of Agriculture, Tripura. The exhibition was organized on the occasionof ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, 8 years of service, good governance and poor welfare.
Inaugurating the programme, the Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs said that after the establishment of the present central government, this exhibition has been organized to inform the students of several colleges and schools of the state about the measures taken for the development of the country, especially for the development of farmers. Everyone needs to know what programmes the central government is implementing for the development of the farmers, the development of poor people, and the development of students. The Information and Cultural Affairs Minister advised the students to study well. He said that overall development is not possible by excluding only a part of the society or an individual. So everyone should be taken along. Everyone needs to know where progress is being made. The benefits of developmental programmes should reach the last person of the society. The government is proceeding with this vision. He said that the government has taken several schemes for the betterment of farmers across the country and to double the income of farmers. India is a major agricultural country and the country’s economy is based on agriculture. He also said that the present state government is giving allowance of 2 thousand rupees per month to 3 lakh 18 thousand 410 people. He urged everyone to build a drug free Tripura and stand against drugs.
Central Bureau of Communication Agartala and Kailashahar Branch Head of Field Office HK Cheng, ICAR’s NEH Region’s Tripura Centre Officer Dr. Biswajit Das, the Dean of College of Fisheries, Lembucherra Dr. Ratan Kumar Saha also spoke at the programme. Principal of College of Agriculture Dr. TK Maiti gave the welcome address.Organizing Secretary of the programme Thingrindam Thirenius KS delivered the vote of thanks. The guests visited the exhibition gallery. Farmers along with students of different colleges and universities were present at the programme.
