Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman strongly condemned the BJP-TIPRA Motha alliance, labeling it an “unholy” coalition driven solely by personal interests and lacking any tangible benefits for tribal communities. He specifically criticized the decision to nominate Kriti Singh, sister of TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman, as the Lok Sabha candidate for the East Tripura seat. Barman questioned Singh’s familiarity with Tripura and its indigenous people, highlighting her lack of prior political involvement in the state.

Barman expressed surprise over the exclusion of key party members like Pratima Bhoumik and current East Tripura MP Rebati Mohan Tripura from receiving tickets, despite their longstanding dedication to the party. He warned that the party’s disregard for such committed leaders raised concerns about its commitment to serving the interests of the people.

Appealing to tribal communities and the wider electorate, Barman called for a boycott of the BJP-TIPRA Motha alliance, urging them to instead support the Congress. He pledged to prioritize development and uphold constitutional rights if the Congress were to come to power.

Barman  sought people’s supprt fr his friend and Congress candidate Asish Kumar Saha for the West seat and also advocated for supporting a Left candidate in the East seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Furthermore, Barman expressed concerns about the potential escalation of violence with the return of his political rival, Biplab Kumar Deb, as a BJP-nominated candidate for the West Tripura seat. He warned that Deb’s resurgence in mainstream state politics could lead to a revival of fear, terror, hooliganism, and corruption, jeopardizing the current fragile peace experienced by the people.
