Sudip Roy Barman and Asish Saha- who had resigned as BJP legislators on Monday joined Congress on Tuesday morning in Delhi after meeting Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. The meeting was held at Rahul Gandhi’s residence .
PCC president Birajit Sinha was also present during the meeting.
Both the MLAs had flown to New Delhi soon after submitting resignation to Speaker Ratan Chakrabarty on Monday.
After joining the Congress Roy Barman said he felt good to return to the old party.
“I had committed paap by joining BJP. Now I have to do prayaschitra and have to bring Congress to the power”, said Roy Barman to Delhi media. He also criticised the BJP government saying that it had let loose reign of terror in Tripura.
Roy Barman was a minister of BJP –IPFT government and he lost his ministerial berth for openly indulging in ‘anti-party’ activities.
