Close on the heels of ruling BJP’s candidate announcement the opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist) also came out with its candidate for the ensuing Rajya Sabha seat election. The CPM has fielded its former MLA Sudhan Das for o the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Tripura. Das (64), a prominent SC leader, and former MLA from Rajnagar assembly segment in South Tripura for six times was named as the party candidate in the evening.
Das is presently a member of CPM state committee and general secretary of Tripura Tapashili Jati Samannay Smiti. The decision to nominate Das was informed by CPM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury in a press statement on Tuesday evening.
