The newly set up Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Unit in the Agartala Government Medical College and Hospital started its journey with two successful pacemaker implantations.
Dr Kanak Narayan Bhattacharya, Consultant of the CTVS operated upon two heart patients Tarani Biswas, 65, a resident of Teliamura and Nepal Debnath, 60, a resident of Udaipur and placed the pacemakers on December 6 last. Both the patients now in ICU are now recuperating fast.
The operation is considered a milestone in the healthcare services in the state as patients with heart problems requiring pacemakers earlier had to rush to hospitals outside the state and pay huge amount of money. Now they can afford it with less expenditure , trouble and difficulties in their own state.
