A combined effort of a network of Hospitals has helped in saving a highly critical malaria patient in Gomati District. The patient is currently undergoing treatment in Gomati District Hospital under the care of Dr. Abhijit Datta, Child specialist of District Hospital.

A 10- year-old boy, Karan Tripura, of Chaplin Chara of Tirthamukh under Karbook Block was almost in an unconscious state and suffering from cerebral encephalopathy, a life threatening condition, when he was brought to the Gomati hospital. Sources said, Karan was admitted to Natunbazar Hospital after detection of malaria Pf positive on January 7 last. While he was undergoing treatment there, Karan’s haemoglobin level was found to be gradually decreasing.

The incident alerted the MOIC  of Natunbazar RH – Dr. Milanbhakta Jamatia and he promptly communicated with Dr. Arjun Saha, District Malaria Officer of Gomati District who in turn, alerted District Hospital’s team in advance to be ready to admit the patient.
