As incessant rains along with storm and lightning raged on Monday noon across the state at least two persons died and two others were seriously injured.

Reports reaching here said a woman among two people died and two others were injured when lightning struck them at Malbasa gram Panchayat area in Amarpur sub-division on Monday.

The four persons- Mithirum Reang (20), Chasuram Reang (28), Suchitra Reang (30) and Kumarjoy Reang (26) went to Jhum in their village and they took shelter in front of a shop along Amarpur-Gandacherra road following heavy rains accompanied by lightning.

Suddenly, they were struck by a massive lightning. The local villagers shifted all four persons to Amarpur sub-divisional hospital. 

The attending medical officer announced Mithirum and Chasuram brought dead while the two other persons were referred to Gomati district hospital in a critical condition. 

The two dead bodies will be handed over to the deceased’s families after post-mortem on Tuesday, according to Birganj police.

In Agartala, in many places trees were uprooted and power suplly got severely disrupted for hours.

Reports coming here also said that  Road connectivity disrupted due to broken trees and electric poles on Gandacherra-Amarpur road on Monday.It is learned that the road connectivity was disrupted when trees fell on the road in Kalamati area during the afternoon storm and two electric poles near Gatiram Para also collapsed on the road in the evening.The incident left the vehicular movement out of gear at least for a few hours until the road was cleared with the intervention of administration and passengers.
