The state government has taken initiative to build an institution like the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences of Manipur by integrating Tripura Medical College and Dr. BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital. A proposal has already been sent to the Central Government for its approval. Health Department Secretary, Dr. Debashish Basu informed this yesterday at a press conference held at the Press Conference Hall of the Secretariat. Health Secretary said that there is no deficiency in the sincerity of the state government to protect the health of the people of the state. With the aim of giving as many health services as possible to the people of the remote areas, the campaign is underway all over the state.

In the press conference, Mission Director of National Health Mission, Subhashish Das informed that the MSSSKY campaign has been launched in the state from September 1, 2021, with the aim of making children maintain good health. In this programme, 56 thousand 193 children were dewormed on National Deworming Day. 2 lakh 14 thousand 792 children aged 9 months to 5 years were given Vitamin A supplements. 3 lakh 3 thousand 948 children aged 0-5 years were fed ORS under the Intensified Diarrhea Control Part-time Programme. 10 lakh 7 thousand 145 children aged 6 months to 19 years were fed IFA syrup, pink and blue tablets under Iron Folic Acid supplementation programme. MSSSKY– 2.0 special programme was organized, from March 21 to March 31 this year across the state. In this programme 10 lakh 1 thousand 670 children were given deworming medicine on National Deworming Day. 1 lakh 6 thousand 19 Children between 9 months and 5 years of age received vitamin A supplementation. 48 thousand 277 children aged 0-5 years were fed ORS under the Intensified Diarrhea Control Programme. 8 lakh 48 thousand 503 children aged 6 months to 19 years were given IFA syrup, pink and blue tablets under the iron folic acid supplementation programme. 2 lakh 92 thousand 632 children aged 0 to 6 years included in the Poshan Abhiyan were assessed for nutritional status by measuring weight and height and were kept under regular observation.

Mission Director said, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was launched in the state on September 23, 2018. 15,506 Ayushman e-cards have been issued in the financial year 2022-23 (up to August).  31 thousand 664 people have benefited through this project by getting medical services.

At the press conference, the Mission Director said, under the National Immunization Programme, 14 thousand 585 children have been fully immunized and 13 thousand 212 lactating mothers have been given tetanus diphtheria vaccine during the fiscal year 2022 23 (till July). As a result complete immunization has been achieved through the National Health Mission. The rate has increased to 94% percent. He informed, primary cardiology and urology outpatient services have been started in the super specialty department at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital.

Highlighting the success of health department at the press conference, Director, Dr. Subhashish Debbarma said that a 25-bed children’s ward with oxygen support has been inaugurated at the trauma care centre in Dhalai district hospital located in Kulai under the initiative of the health department. In addition, trauma care centre will be opened in Udaipur and Shantir Bazar hospitals by December.
